Courageous Kids
"I have never met a group of people with bigger hearts than the volunteers that were there helping me and 40 other kids." --Chelsea, a grieving teen who attended Courageous Kids summer camp and later became a CK counselor
Courageous Kids is a grief support program for youth and their families, for whom a loved one has died. We have provided camp and support groups serving 2300 youth and parents since we started in 1995. Our services are free of charge. We depend solely on grants and donations.
Courageous Kids offers weekly support groups, a summer camp and theater troupe for children ages 6-18. Participants can learn that they are not alone in whatever they might be experiencing. Caregivers can experience peer support and learn ways to support their children and teens. We use art therapy, drama, sand play and discussion to give voice to thoughts and feelings, and to remember our loved ones.
